CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION


The Baguio Country Club- the ultimate destination. "Going from a one-room affair in 1905 to the vast institution it is today, the BCC can most certainly look back and claim it has indeed survived trials and challenges over a century with grace and dignity.

The Baguio Country Club celebrated its centennial year on February 18, 2005. Leading up to the big day has been a hundred day-long celebration that kicked off November 10, 2004. Among the commemorative activities were various socio-civic events,  medical outreach missions, Christmas gift-giving, tree-planting, unveiling of commissioned bust of Potenciano Ilusorio, choral competition among the elementary and high school level of the different schools in Baguio City, medical mission and the unveiling and blessing of the PI Bust on February 17- 19, 2005.

The centennial countdown began with a thanksgiving mass and program held at the skating rink grounds of Baguio Country Club.

BCC Members, Top Management, Board of Directors, Officers, and all friends alike came altogether to witness this momentous countdown on November 10, 2004.


Commemorative tree planting: at the Burnham Park and at the Club premises on February 17 and 18, 2005.

Former City Mayor and honorary Baguio Country Club Member, Gene de Guia, rings the centennial bell to begin the 100 days centennial countdown.

The blessing and unveiling of the Club's historical marker- a recognition by the National Historical Institute bestowing that the Baguio Country Club as one of the historical spots in the country, having reached its centennial. A most awaited show had Martin Nievera thrilling and entertaining three thousand members and guests at a concert held at the fairway of the Club during that magical night of February 18, 2005.Three highly branded cars and several major prizes were raffled out that evening followed by a spectacular fireworks display that culminated a very memorable Centennial for BCC!

Centennial Marker

The blessing and unveiling of the Club's historical marker- a recognition by the National Historical Institute bestowing the Baguio Country Club as one of the historical spots in the country, having reached its centennial which reads as follows:  "Quote English version"


Centennial Coins

As a fitting memorabilia of the Centennial, The Club President Atty. Federico Agcaoili commissioned Mr. Enrique Tionko of Suarez Arts Metal Technology of Cebu to mint  the Club's centennial coin. One side of the coin features the founding father of the Club  "William Cameron Forbes" and in the other side, pictures the old Club building and the new Club building.


Commemorative Stamps

The Baguio Country Club launched its official commemorative stamps on February 18, 2005. The stamps carry vintage photograph of the Club and the existing Clubhouse that evoke nostalgic feelings of the old and new Baguio Country Club at different points of its one hundred-year-old history.

The design shows the old photograph of the Club, circa 1930, replaced the silhouette figure of the Clubhouse found in the old logo and shows clearly the lodging rooms at the second level, the favourite Verandah and the golfers in their white suits.
